DISASTER - Blogtober 2020
Disaster
Youthful bodies we made our wedding vows
Summertime romance turned to way of life
Lovemaking more than heaven would allow
Unlike my parents a stranger to strife
Lust in abundance and ardor run rife
Wet glistening bride river in Cognac
Deepest yearnings all fulfilled in my wife
Memory I'd trade it all to go back
The diagnosis stopped me in my tracks
Your mind is gone where's the woman I knew
Disease ravaged you happiness hijacked
Every action each attempt misconstrued
Angry scar fist-sized hole in the plaster
Write what you know and I know disaster
--Shenandoah Lynd
(a Spenserian sonnet)
